This spring we have litter-picked along the entire footpath behind Cheney Row Park. It runs from the Muslim Cemetery to the A406, passing Walthamstow Academy and the playing fields, running through both Higham Hill and Chapel End wards. We tackled it in stages from Marc to May. In total, we removed more than 125 bags of waste, as well as many bulky items including mattresses, tyres and fire hydrants.
This footpath unfortunately falls between the cracks of the council’s regular cleaning schedules, as it is neither a park or a street. It hadn’t seen a litter-picker in a long time and was badly in need of some TLC.
The transformation has been remarkable. The footpath is looking so much better!
